RNN Communications has rejoined Northern Ireland Chamber after a 12-year break. Here's why business networking, stakeholder engagement and professional relationships still matter for growth, in Northern Ireland and beyond, and why we always recommend expanding network to eveery business.
2014: When I first joined the Chamber back in 2014, RNN Communications looked nothing like it does today. I was a sole practitioner, juggling client work, business development, admin, and pretty much everything else myself...and not doing a particularly good job managing it all.
Looking back, that was probably the exact moment I should have been out at networking events, building relationships and investing in my professional network.
Instead, like a lot of business owners do, I put my head down and focused almost entirely on delivery.
I worked hard, served my clients well and grew the business steadily. That approach built a strong reputation and a loyal client base — but it also meant I never properly embraced what Chamber membership had to offer. I just didn't make the time or the space for it.
Fast forward to 2026, and things look very different.
RNN Communications is now an award-winning, senior-led PR and communications consultancy, supporting organisations across Northern Ireland, Ireland and Great Britain. Our team works across retail, healthcare, construction, professional services, charity, FMCG and the public sector, helping organisations build reputation, engage stakeholders and improve visibility.
With a strong team behind me and a wider range of expertise than we've ever had, we finally have the capacity to invest in something just as important as client delivery: relationships.
That's why we've decided to rejoin Northern Ireland Chamber...well, not the only reason but read on down for this.
Networks have always been at the heart of PR.
As a PR agency, relationships sit at the centre of everything we do.
Whether we're helping a client secure media coverage, connect with stakeholders, build partnerships, raise awareness or protect their reputation...communications is ultimately about people.
In an age of AI, digital transformation and online everything, genuine human connection is still one of the most valuable assets any organisation can have. People work with people, and our longest client relationships are working with people with whom we connect.
The catalyst for our return to NI Chamber
Well, that wasn't timing but a person - Claire Walker - the Business Development Manager at the NI Chamber and a former client.
When we worked with Claire previously, Claire was someone the whole team thoroughly enjoyed working with. Throughout that relationship, she consistently showed a knack for understanding organisations, spotting opportunities and connecting people with the right solutions.
So when Claire approached us about rejoining NI Chamber, it was clear she'd already thought it through- what the benefits would be to us as an organisation and the role we need to play in the success of membership.
Claire's encouragement helped, and I was happy to proceed, but on one condition:
The One Condition:
Before signing up, the team and I agreed: we'd actually show up this time. There was no point joining again just to repeat the mistakes of 2014.
This time, we committed to getting properly involved.
That commitment is already taking shape. This week I'm heading to an AI-focused event I'm genuinely excited about, given how important AI search, Generative Engine Optimisation and digital visibility have become for organisations of every size.
We're planning to attend the Festival of Business in the coming weeks. Members of the team are taking part in regional networking events. Our diaries are steadily filling up with chances to make new connections and expand our network. Clients' events often come first but this year, these events must also be a priority.
We hope that through the events, we can build real relationships, learning from other business leaders, sharing knowledge and contributing where we can add value.
And the other big benefit of the NI Chamber is its reach in terms of its owned channels e.g. social channels, ezines, website visits etc.
Here's our recent fetch-ireland news as featured on the NI Chamber website: https://www.northernirelandchamber.com/member-news/rnn-communications-launches-fetch-ireland-2-0-as-demand-grows-for-micro-influencer-marketing/
Why networks matter for our clients
At RNN Communications, our role often extends well beyond traditional PR.
We regularly help clients engage stakeholders, connect with key audiences, spot partnership opportunities, raise their profile and navigate communications challenges that don't come with a playbook.
The strength of our network is part of how we deliver better outcomes for them.
The more people we know, the more industries we understand and the more conversations we're part of, the more value we can bring to the organisations we support.
So joining NI Chamber isn't really an investment in RNN Communications alone. It's an investment in broadening our knowledge, expanding our connections and strengthening the network we can draw on for our clients' benefit.
A new chapter
The phrase "your network is your net worth" still resonates with me. So many of life's best opportunities come through trusted connections, shared experience and mutual support.
So thank you, Claire Walker, for the encouragement, guidance and the gentle push that got us here. We're excited to be back. We're looking forward to meeting new people, reconnecting with familiar faces, and embracing this next chapter for RNN Communications.
