RNN Green: Here comes the sun - Abbey Road Studios to run on Renewable Energy

Almost half a century after The Beatles recorded ‘Here Comes The Sun’ within its famous walls, London’s Abbey Road Studios is once again embracing the sun’s rays, following the announcement that green energy company Ecotricity is to take over as its power supplier.

The agreement will see Ecotricity provide energy powered by wind turbines and solar rays to four of Universal Music UK’s key London sites, including its Kensington High Street HQ and Abbey Road Studios – the world’s oldest purpose built recording studio.

The record company’s conversion to green energy comes at a time when other tech giants Facebook and Google have also made sustainability a key part of their business. In 2015, 35 percent of all power used by Facebook came from clean and renewable energy, with the company committed to reaching 50 percent by 2015. Google has set it itself a goal to power itself 100 percent by renewable energy by the end of 2017 for its global operations!
